RECAP: Alexa sang Nick a song that she had written a while ago before she had met him. He loved it and later that night, they watched the stars together. Okay first off: I am having a WAVE of ideas hitting me. I know EXACTLY how I'm going to do the series the rest of the time haha. Let me just let you know that there will some surprises that you NEVER would've expected. :] And I also wanna say that the last episodes EVER will be the best and will DEFINITELY make you cry. Secrets will be revealed and tears will flow. :] Haha ya know ya all love me for that!! Well enjoy this chapter! Haha. (A week later) (Alexa was sitting in her hotel room, looking at an old photo album. They were in Nashville, TN that night. As she flipped through the worn out pages and smiled at pictures from her childhood, she thought of how much she had grown throughout the years. Pictures from her old dance recitals..school pictures..vacation photos...pictures of her taking her first steps as a tiny baby. The time really did go by fast. She wanted to just grab a remote control to her life and rewind and live through all those times again as many times as she wanted to. Some of the memories she wanted to relive over and over again consisted of the following: Her date at the Lakeside Grotto with Nick, her first kiss with Nick, their walk on the beach, all the times he sang for her, the first time he had called her, the day they spent playing and running around in the snow..but the moment she wanted to relive the most was when her and Nick first met. The minute they looked into each other's eyes..everything seemed worthwhile..all the waiting had paid off..and all the agony they had endured during the time of their breakup and the lost feelings they had from being away from each other..it was all worth it. Alexa didn't mind going through the waiting if it meant feeling that feeling that was in her heart and soul at that moment. Her heart had wings and was fluttering all over the place. It was a heart filled with happiness and love.) "I've been wasting my time. I've been losing my mind. I've been running races, still don't know what I've been chasing. But my eyes still can't see. Bluer skies that wait for me and I'm on my way. It's time for me to fly, it's time for me to soar. It's time for me to open up my heart and knock on heaven's door. It's time for me to live. It's time for me to sing. It's time for me to lay down on my worries and I'll spread my wings. Time for me to fly." She bowed her head and closed her eyes and began to thank God for bringing Nick into her life. Without him..she didn't know where she would be. She wouldn't be there, that's for sure. Once she had finished praying, she opened her eyes and a tear rolled down her cheek as her eyes fell upon someone who was standing before her..someone who she had fallen in love with..someone who she knew would always be there for her..someone who's lips she had felt on hers many times..someone named Nicholas Jerry Jonas. He saw her tears and quickly sat next to her and brushed his hand across her cheek, making the tears vanish with his warm, gentle touch.) Nick: Why are you crying? Alexa: I don't really know. I was looking at some old family photos and thinking about how fast the time goes by...and it just kinda opened up a lot of overwhelming feelings, I guess. Nick: Well, it's okay now. I'm right here for you. I'm never leaving your side, Alexa. And that's a promise. (Smiles) Alexa: (Lays head on his shoulder) Nick: (Rests head on top of hers) (Nick takes her hand in his and starts slowly, but lovingly stroking her fingers with his.) Alexa: (Laughs) Nick: What are you laughing at? Alexa: This. (Points at photo) It's a photo of me and this kid I played with at the park near the beach in New Jersey when I was, like, 5. Nick: Oh, I always used to go to the beaches in New Jersey with my family. We haven't really done that in a while. It's kinda hard to without getting mobbed, ya know? Alexa: Yeah. Nick: What beach in New Jersey were you at? Alexa: Atlantic City. Nick: Cool. I went there too a few times. I went when I was around 6. Alexa: That's funny we were both there at the same time and didn't even know it and this little kid looks an awful lot like....(Trails off and looks harder at picture) Nick: Looks an awful lot like what? (Looks over her shoulder at picture and eyes widen) Uh... Alexa: Oh my...(Trails off again) Nick... Nick: Alexa... Both: (Say at the same time) That was you! End of Part 1. Oh boy..what's gonna happen here? Haha Part 2 will be posted soon! I just HAVE to get all this out in the open before I turn out the lights and go to sleep tonight! What do you guys think? Enjoy!

Customer Review: I was so excited to find Goodnight Moon in Spanish, as the English version was a favorite of my siblings 20 years ago, and my 15 month old son today. We have dozens of Spanish translations of English books, some of which work better than others. I had hoped this one would at least be okay, but for me, it seems very awkward and loses the charm of the original; and my son will not listen to even a page read in Spanish.
Others have commented that the book keeps the rhythm of the Spanish language, but I couldn't disagree more. I am hesitant to simply blame the translator--with such simple images, I think there is only so much a translator can do to preserve the feeling of the original, and perhaps this book just didn't lend itself. All the charming rhymes seem to be lost, without being replaced, and so the repetition that is so soothing, even to babies, just isn't there. In addition, the lines themselves feel so much longer in Spanish, as well, and my son, who adores the English, gets very impatient for the page to be turned.
Let me just provide a couple examples. From the first page to the second:
English: In the great green ROOM, there was a telephone, a red balLOON, and a picture of...the cow jumping over the MOON.
Okay, maybe "room" is a stretch there, but there is a rhythm to that rhyme.
Spanish: En la gran habitacion verde, hay un telefono, un globo rojo y un cuadro...de una vaquita que salta sobre la Luna.
Some other pages are slightly better:
English: 2 little kittens and a pair of mittens
Spanish: Dos gatitos juguetones, dos caletines y dos mitones
But followed by:
English: ...comb and a BRUSH and a bowl full of MUSH, and a quiet old lady who was whispering HUSH
Spanish: ...cepillo y un gran peine y papilla en un tazon, y una amable viejecita que teje muy calladita.
So is there some rhythm in the Spanish translation? Sure. But does it even approximate the English? No, I don't think so. Of course translations are not going to be perfect, but we own many Spanish texts [translated from English] that are virtually as good as (or even occasionally better than) the original. The awkwardness of this translation seems to present a bad example of the beauty and flow of Spanish, and unless reading the English version is not a possibility, I really don't recommend this book in Spanish--especially not with a baby or toddler. ...

Customer Review: Despite the fact that his books feature anthropomorphic mice, Kevin Henkes' characters are always strikingly realistic. Lilly is no exception.
When she gets a COOL PURSE from her grandma, she has a predictably hard time waiting until Show-and-tell... so hard a time that she doesn't wait. And it's confiscated.
Then she - predictably - is upset at her teacher instead of herself. So she writes him a nasty letter... which she repents from when she realizes he doesn't totally hate her after all.
The descriptions of her feelings are just right, and she settles her problem in just the way I'd suggest to a kid in her situation.

Customer Review: If you're a parent or guardian of a school-aged child, chances are that you've already experienced the day (or days) when your child just does not want to go to school. Maybe he's sick; maybe she's scared; or maybe he just wants a day off.
In Splat the Cat's case, he's afraid of his first day of school, and he tries every excuse to get out of it, but his mother is persistent. He must go to school. Splat reluctantly goes, but decides to take his mouse friend Seymour along in his lunch box. At school, Splat's teacher, Mrs. Wimpydimple talks about all of the AMAZING things cats can do, and he is very surprised to hear that cats chase mice. As you can only expect in these sorts of situations, Seymour escapes from the lunch box, and a chase pursues. Luckily, Mrs. Wimpydimple intervenes, and Splat realizes that school may not be so bad after all.
This is the type of book that can help ease a child's fear of school through a very funny story with equally funny illustrations. I can't find information about what medium Scotton used to create the illustrations, but to me, they look digitally rendered. Splat is a big fuzzball, and his facial expressions are hilarious. The illustrations are also richly detailed, and I keep finding new things each time I read the book. For example, when his mom combs Splat's hair, Seymour is holding a comb, peeking out from behind a jar of "Fur Gloop." On another page, you can see Splat's bookshelf with a picture of his dad and books that include such titles as, "I Love Fish." It's a book that I think both parents and children will enjoy reading over and over again.
